Golf Shoes: Why Bother?
Why should you buy golf shoes? Why should you even wear golf shoes while playing? Is it mandatory or is it up to you? Here are some answers to these questions.
First, many courses require you to wear golf shoes when playing. This is not a rule that is set in stone, and you can certainly find courses that will allow you to wear sneakers, but check it out before you show up. Some courses have a dress code, and these courses may restrict play unless you have golf shoes.
The main reason you want to invest in a good pair of golf shoes has to do with your performance. In order to make a good shot you have to have good footing. Any slippage at all will result in a bad hit in most cases, and that means a higher score.
Golf shoes have either metal spikes or plastic nubs attached to the soles. These protrusions dig into the ground and offer you much better footing than if you did not have them. With the exception of putting, there are no golf shots that do not require stable, solid footing as a key to a successful shot.
Another important reason you want to invest in some quality golf shoes is moisture. Golf courses are often wet. This moisture may come from rain, dew, or the normal watering of greens and fairways. If you play this game, your feet are going to get wet. It is as simple as that.

By wearing golf shoes with spikes or nubs, you can get better traction as you move along the course. They also provide excellent footing for those times you are in the sand trap.

what should I wear for a company golf tournament? I also need a a quick lesson on golf.?
I don’t really know how to golf. So I need a quick rundown, including lingo, rules. I know it’s hard to teach how to golf, but something simple so I don’t make a fool out of myself.
I am 5’9″ and weight is 180lbs, so I am larger what should I wear to golf and not look so big?

A pair of pants/slacks or if it really hot, shorts, running shoes and a golf shirt eg polo type with a collar. I would also consider a wide brimmed hat for the sun. Suppose it depends on the classiness of the course, but I would steer away from jeans. Do an on line search to figure out the rules. I don’t play either and was on a company golf day end June, definately not my game, but I had fun drinking beer.
