Golf clubs are an expensive investment and you’ll have bought them only when you’ve been serious about playing golf, prior to that you may have rented or borrowed clubs from friends or your local club shop. Another key thing to do with golf clubs is make sure you cover them with a dedicate golf insurance policy, some people believe their golf clubs are covered by their home insurance policy but this isn’t always the case, in fact with some people keeping their clubs in the shed, garage or car then it can be difficult to claim for lost or stolen golf clubs without an insurance policy covering your clubs specifically. Golf insurance policies cost very little when you consider how much you have spent on your clubs and will probably not want to spend similar amounts replacing them should they be lost, damaged or stolen.

Golf Insurance policies can also include golf travel insurance so your clubs are covered whether you are at home or abroad playing golf.

How Do I Travel With My BMX?

In August, I’m going to my friends villa in Cannes. I’ve been there before, and it is really nice. There is a half pipe, a trampoline (which is great fun with a BMX) and a huge wood’s (originally designed for quad bikes, but I’m sure it would be great on a BMX) . I’ve heard it’s really expensive to travel with a bike, but it’s free for golf clubs, and they say if you put it in a golf bag, they usually let it past. But won’t they put it through the scanner thing. Please, I really need to know what I should do. I’m travelling with easyjet if that helps.

EasyJet will fly bikes as ‘sporting equipment’ – which can be booked with the flights (I also believe it’s possible to add a bike to your booking either via phone or internet later). The cost for flying a bike is £16.50 (what I paid last year – this may have changed slightly) for each flight (so £33 return). As far as I know EasyJet charge for all sporting equipment whether it’s bikes, golf clubs or skis, etc… So I would just pay the charge to take the bike as a bike.

There are certain packaging requirements for the bike including:
- The bike must be in a bike box or bike bag (your local bike shop will probably give you a bike box if you ask for one).
- You must remove the pedals.
- The handlebars must be twisted or taken off so that they’re flush with the frame (so that the bike is thin).
- Nothing other than the bike should be in the box/bag, but when I flew out I had body armor/tools in the bike box and they didn’t seem to mind.
- The total weight of the box/bag must be 32Kg or less.
