Making Golf Fun For Kids
The popularity of golf has never been higher than it is right now. More and more parents are trying to develop their kids into the next Tiger Woods or Michelle Wie. While this is a personal choice, golf pros and parents need to come up with ways to make teaching kids golf something fun.
Everyone has been there before, being a kid can be tough, and learning something needs to be fun. Golfing is no different. Teaching kids to golf is a task in itself, so making sure they are having fun will not only make it easier on the instructor, but it will also ensure that the kids are willing to stick with the program to become good golfers. There are so many aspects of golfing that need to be taught to kids. Things like:
• Full Swing
• Chipping
• Putting
• Rules
• Manners
• Safety
These things would be hard for an adult to get interested in for a long period of time, so imagine how a child would feel if it is not fun for them. So what are some things to do that will make teaching golf to kids fun? Try some of these drill suggestions:
Driving Range: Have the child pick a green or a target, as well as a club. Parent and youngster can go head-to-head to see who can get closest to the pin, with some sort of fun reward being made available after the competition is over.
Chipping Green: Most golfers just practice their chipping to become better. A child will get bored with this very easily. To make it more fun and more challenging, put a bag or other obstacle between the child and the green. This will teach them to properly chip around the obstacle.
Putting Games: Use colored tees and colored golf balls to set up some sort of putting obstacle course. Set a tee three feet from the hole. Continue setting tees farther away from the whole and in different places on the green. Have the child go around and make all the putts from each marked tee. To make this more fun, use a timer.
Group Instruction
Group instruction is an important aspect for keeping kids entertained while learning to play the game. Not only do the kids get to socialize with other peers and make new friends, but they will also feel more comfortable because it won’t seem like they are under so much one-on-one pressure from their instructor.
Group instruction incorporates games and drills that the entire group can learn together, making the golfing experience enjoyable and fun. Most kids will get their own bucket of used balls and be able to chip, putt and drive them at their own pace.
Parent To Child Interaction
While group instruction is helpful, a child still wants to be able to bond with a parent. It is important that they take a hands-on interest in the instruction process. Something as simple as hitting a bucket of used golf balls with a child or playing a round of golf with them can be very important when the child is debating whether or not they want to continue with lessons.
Getting kids excited about golf takes some planning. However, if a parent and instructor are willing to do things a little different and keep the kid’s attention, then kids will continue to be excited about the prospect of learning to play golf.

Is it safe to drive with a hole on my car windshield?
this damn dumb kid hit a golf ball on the golf course and accidentally hit my car’s back window…of course i was watching him hitting because i was in the area where he was, as well as his mother. So his mom says that she’s terribly sorry and she’ll pay for it of course. i have her #, address.. but since it’s Sunday, all the shops are closed, so i have to wait till tomorrow morning to do it.
and it takes about 10 minutes to drive the auto window shop…
thank you
Is it the windshield, or the back window? If the back window, I would probably cover the hole with a piece of duct tape to keep it from breaking further, but yes, it’s safe to drive it.
If it’s actually the windshield, you probably can drive it, but be careful and don’t be in a big hurry, the entire windshield could collapse into a series of cracks that would make it impossible to see.
