Golf Grips and Arthritis?

Well i have moderate to severe arthritis in my right hand and im wondering what grip i should use for my driver. It seems that i only have the aching problem in my hand after i hit my driver and im wondering what golf grips are a good remedy for this? I had a Callaway FT-9 with a win PCi Cord when i was having the problems but i just bought a Callaway Diablo Edge and looking to take off the stock grip within the next few weeks

Tacki-Mac makes a good arthritic grip. So does Avon (the Chamois). Just a word of warning: the Avon (3/32″) is 64g, and the Tacki-Mac is 72g… most- but not all- oversize/arthritic grips are heavier than their standard counterpart. This will effect the swing weight (how heavy the head feels).

It takes 5g in the grip end to make one swing weight point change. Lose weight, gain a point; add weight, lose a point. So, if your current grip is 50-52g (Callaway’s usual stock offering) and you switch to the Chamois, you’ll make the head feel lighter by almost 3 swing weight points. If you go with the Tacki-Mac, you’ll lose just over 4 swing weight points.

To add a little wrinkle: some people actually like having the balance point of the club closer to the hands (counter-balancing). They say it allows for more control of the head during the swing. Obviously it doesn’t fool the swing weight scale, but sometimes going against the grain will actually yield benefits. I can’t say if this is the “right” way for you to go, but it is something I feel should at least be mulled over.
