Disc Golf Bag Sets

Does anyone know anything about disc golf discs?

My boyfriend’s birthday is coming up. And he’s played disc golf once and loved it and plans to play it again. he’s going away to school and there is a course right across the street. For his birthday I was going to get him a starter set of discs and a bag. However, i know nothing about the sport or the brands or what is needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even an idea of where to get them would be huge help!

Just like regular golf, there are drivers, mid ranges, and putters. You’ll probably want to buy him a driver, since they are the most fun to use.

Tie dye discs by Innova or Discraft always look cool, but more expensive.

If you look on the underside of the disc you want to buy, it’ll have the weight. Drivers usually range from 165-175g. The Lower the weight, the potentially further it will go. Lower weight also means it’s going to curve more, which isn’t always what a discer wants.

My advice, if you want a good present, buy a Tie Dye Innova, maybe a Valkeryie, or a Beast. A 169-172g is a safe bet. I also like the Discraft Nuke, it is popular with discers. If he doesn’t throw it well right away, remind him that it takes a bit of throwing to break it in. If he doesn’t like how it throws, AT LEAST IT’LL LOOK COOL. I’d ask one of his friends where there is a good place to buy discs. Here where I live, there are a bunch of stores with tie dye discs, hopefully there are some by you.

Maybe stay away from the starter discs. (It MIGHT offend him, but IDK) Finding the right disc for a person is really a crapshoot. You just get lucky sometimes when you find that disc that fits how you throw.

If you really like this guy, spend at least $25 on a cool new driver. I’m sure he’ll appreciate it.
